Pitch Invasion!
We got Casandra to try out Subbuteo and she enjoyed it. The new heavier players make a ton of difference. Much more control and they don’t fly off the table nearly as much.
I finally got to try Flash Point with Marc at work. Instant buy. Excellent cooperative game about firefighting. The big innovation is that, while it has different player roles like Pandemic, in Flash Point you can change them mid game - for a cost in time. This made for a ton of interesting decisions. Meanwhile every turn the fires keeps trying to get out of control. Very fun.
Cory is passing left in our Battletech cube draft. It was a bit of a struggle explaining the rules. It’s just close enough to Magic that you need to unlearn quite a bit. The draft seemed to go well but we’ll see how the game turns out.
It’s our first play of the DC Comics Deck Building game. This is about as stripped down as it gets. The cards-in-a-line mechanic from Ascension but only one resource. But it was really quite fun. The main wrinkle is the Supervillan stack that acts as the game clock. It plays very fast and there were some very wild combos for big turns. Cory did fine and in fact scored a few more points than me but we were both way behind Cas.
It’s an Angry Birds Card Game obsession. It just plays so fast with primal screw you neighbor effects. Really fun for such a light game.
